Our field trip is next Thursday, October 10, 2019. Please have students dress for the weather with a bag lunch and a water bottle. The busses will be leaving promptly after attendance and all students need to be on time for school.
There is no school next Friday October 11 as well as no school on October 14, 2019 due to a PD Day followed by Thanksgiving.
Updates:
Language Arts
-students continued to focus on sentence structure using adjectives, nouns and verbs
-AMA my IRIS goals (students can log into IRIS and show parents their Learning Plans)
-AMA what sounds do the letters "ea, er, ar and ir" make
-AMA which words do we see "gh" like "graph" or "bought" in
Math
-students continued to explore number concepts
-students compared large 3 digit numbers (greater than, less than and equal to)
-students used hundreds charts and number lines to locate and complete the missing numbers from 1-999
-students developed strategies to understand that 425 is the same as 525 except that the hundred place is different
-AMA how to play the "Mystery Number Detective" game

Inquiry
-students finished learning about Helen Keller and her life as a blind, deaf and mute person
-students made connections and understood the hardships in her life and how she persevered
-with partners, students researched the ears and hearing of one of the following animals: dolphins, frogs, owls, snakes, bats, whales
-students practiced their mini-presentations and will continue to present their research to the class next week
-there will be an assessment on hearing and sound next week
-some vocabulary students should be familiar with are: sound, hearing, frequency, pitch, vibration, higher, lower, noise, amplify, echo, echolocation, sound wave, parts of the ear (E. Tube, inner ear, outer ear, middle ear, hammer, anvil, stirrup, ear drum, cochlea and hammer)
-we will review these concepts again in class
