Home reading and writing due MondayOur Halloween Assembly is on October 31st and we would like students to dress up in costumes if possible (no weapons)

Math
-students reviewed rounding to the nearest 10 and 100-students moved onto estimating large number and learned a new word - "referent"

-below are pictures of their work
-students began "Math Talks" by describing strategies they used during group work activities - there were use of positive language when engaging in group math activities
-students began skip counting by 2's, 5's and 10's when sorting and organizing their estimates
Literacy
-students helped to create phase 1 (content) of their writing rubric
-for the next 2 weeks we will use our rubric to self-assess our work
-AMA what a subject and predicate is
-AMA autumn descriptions words using the 5 senses
-we began "Flashlight Friday's"

Inquiry
-students began exploring Global Citizenship with a look at where we are in the world
-AMA the 7 continents and 5 oceans
-AMA longitude, latitude, equator, and other features of mapping
-AMA the theory of Pangea
Fine Arts
-students learned about Pablo Picasso and how his work incorporates math - shapes and cubism
-students are taking what they learned about Picasso and his art style to create an art piece for our Halloween assembly
-please have students practice their songs at home for the Halloween assembly on October 31st
